Cordless Dyson Service Note – Important.

It is not possible to service a cordless Dyson correctly if we do not have all of the parts because everything works together.
Never let anybody tell you that servicing only the main unit of a cordless will suffice, as it most certainly will not.

  • We need the main vacuum unit, the part you hold in your hand – Motor, battery and bin.
  • Charger – these fail over time, especially if they are being used in a wall cradle – it’s an intermittent fault and more often than not leads those yet to become a customer needlessly buying a replacement battery. These chargers need to be tested whilst your machine is with us.
  • Tube – there are electrical connections inside the tube, if a customer has been using their Dyson (incorrectly) on FULL POWER whilst using an active floor head then they have probably caused lots of slack where the tube meets the cyclone – it will flop about, eventually breaking that connection.
  • Both ‘Active’ floor heads (Heads containing a motor with a spinning brush) – Two active heads are included in a service, there will be a charge for more heads than the allowed 2x. These heads must be completely stripped in order to service them – this is not a job I would recommend for an enthusiastic DIY’er as it’s easy to break things. Don’t attempt it.

  • As with everything being booked in here I need a £10 CASH deposit but you can pay the balance by card.

All Vacuum Cleaner Servicing takes 24 hours, this is because a vital step is to leave all cleaned parts under a warm Air Conditioner (We have 3x AC’s) for 12 hours to ensure that they are completely dry.

To attempt to do this faster will result in moisture being trapped in parts which will condensate through the entire machine meaning that the Vacuum will soon fail to work efficiently again very quickly (there are no corners cut here!).

All machines, regardless of type (Canister, upright or Hand Held) are completely stripped down to the Motor. Motors are checked and cleaned. In some cases carbon brushes are replaced if needed and the internal ‘Commutator’ (In Brushed Motors) will also be checked for damage and cleaned.

The parts are then blown out with a Hydrovane and carefully Jet Washed, sanitised and blown out again to remove residual moisture.

Then put on a drying rack under a dedicated AC for the required 12 hours – no exceptions.

After this process is complete the parts are then inspected and any repairs made. All bearings are lubricated to ensure they are completely free again (Just about all Brush Roller bearings will need attention as they seize over time and the customer has no idea of the problem until it’s too late).

Particular attention is given to all seals, Seals in any Vacuum Cleaner are vital and should not be over looked. I have a commercially sensitive process of restoring rubber seals to bring them back to the performance they had when they left the factory.

On all models the Floor Heads are completely stripped, this is important as the motors inside them need a good air flow to keep them cool (Hand Helds will start to cut out when this happens to protect themselves, this is another indicator that a service is required) – over time dust manifests it’s self as Lint and eventually encapsulates the motor starving it of essential cooling air leading to failure.

There is a lot of detail in a service.

For Hand-Helds the time to replace a Battery is at same time as a Service.

For everything – now is the time to have parts replaced, during a Service as I have to strip the machine in any case so I may be able to shave a little money off of a repair.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that it’s a good idea to bring in a machines for a small repair, and then bring it in again for another small repair – get everything repaired at same time as a Service.

Everything is then polished and carefully put back together with new filters installed. You will then get an ‘Unobtrusive’ Service Sticker which let you know your name, the machine model number and recommended service interval with the date of Service.

*** Important: When a vacuum get’s Blocked – the Blockage is just a symptom of the machine not being able to generate enough Vacuum to pull everything into the Bin. The machine needs a Service, simply unblocking the machine will not solve the problem long term.
