Sebo repairs
Sebo are a great, German machine and should outlast many other vacuum brands IF they are maintained.

Bring your Sebo to us, it will please both the customer and their machine – you will probably be able to to hear for yourself that the machine is much happier after a service.
The most popular Sebo models are:
- Sebo Felix
- Sebo X1. X1.1 and X4
There are also some canister type models out there but we don’t see those that often.
There is also a commercial Sebo which is the BS36.
ALL need servicing to help them enjoy a long life, the parts used in them are very well built but do need attention.
Sebo make use of sensors to keep everything in order so it is vitally important to keep those sensors clean. There is a motor in the floor heads of these models to power the brush bar – there is a separate motor in the main body of the machine to create the legendary vacuum power that a nicely maintained Sebo is famous for.
As every motor spins it MUST have enough air passing over it to cool the motor, the only air these motors will get is ambient air which has dust in it – over time this constant bombardment of very light dust will manifest itself as ‘Lint’ and will eventually encapsulate the motor to such an extent that it can’t cool itself enough to remain healthy and will eventually over-heat and fail.
Also, a weak point is where the mains cable comes out of the handle, with time the wires inside the cable succumb to a stress fracture which leads to intermittent operation, you will not see a broken wire but will notice the machine switching itself on and off which is annoying to say the least.
Each Sebo is completely stripped down, the top part of the Vacuum is removed to expose the floor head enough so that we can get into it and perform our magic.
There are very well made circuit boards in the floor heads which all need to be clean.
Inside the X1, X1.1 and X4 models there are:
- Height adjustment sensor
- Brush rotation sensor
- Bag full sensor
If any of these sensors cannot work they will cause problems, no height adjustment – the bag light always illuminated and it also reports that there is a problem with the brush roller.
These can all be adjusted and cleaned – adjustment is essential in older machines as the sensors eventually become less sensitive.
Both motors are very well made and should last many years if maintained, I even have customers with machine that are over 30 years old but because I have been looking after those machines since I opened Links Repair Shop in 2015 they are still in great shape internally.
Motors can however become unbalanced due to missing or ill fitting filters – the impellers can become contaminated with debris and if allowed to continue that way the main bearings of the motor will catastrophically fail and good quality motors for these aren’t inexpensive as you would expect for an item of such high quality.
These machines are robust but as with anything man made with moving parts they must receive attention now and again – we recommend an annual service.
